Maar meestal reageert het lichaam op iets ouds: een herinnering, een eerder moment van stress of een ervaring van onveiligheid. Het zenuwstelsel slaat deze ervaringen op en blijft alert op signalen die daarop lijken.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1081\" data-end=\"1314\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Wanneer zo\u2019n signaal opnieuw wordt herkend, gaat het alarmsysteem van je lichaam aan. Ook als er op dat moment geen werkelijke dreiging is. Dat is geen zwakte; het is een beschermmechanisme dat simpelweg te gevoelig staat afgesteld.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1316\" data-end=\"1507\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Het goede nieuws is dat je dit systeem opnieuw kunt trainen. Niet door paniek te bestrijden, maar door je lichaam te leren dat spanning veilig is. De oefening gaat als volgt:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1772\" data-end=\"2046\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li data-start=\"1772\" data-end=\"1828\">\n<p data-start=\"1775\" data-end=\"1828\">Ga zitten zoals je zit zonder iets te veranderen. Je hoeft niets te veranderen aan je houding of ademhaling.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1772\" data-end=\"1828\">Sluit je ogen of kijk een beetje door je wimpers heen naar voren.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1829\" data-end=\"1910\">\n<p data-start=\"1832\" data-end=\"1910\">Observeer 30 seconden lang je gedachten, zonder ze te sturen of controleren.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1911\" data-end=\"1974\">\n<p data-start=\"1914\" data-end=\"1974\">Laat voorbij komen wat voorbij komt, zonder in te grijpen. Je hoeft er nu niets mee. Geen controle, geen ademoefening, geen trucje.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1911\" data-end=\"1974\">\n<p data-start=\"1914\" data-end=\"1974\">Gewoon 30 seconden kijken wat jouw hoofd doet, terwijl je lichaam stil blijft zitten.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1911\" data-end=\"1974\">Je laat je systeem merken: Er kunnen gedachten zijn. Er kan spanning zijn. En toch is er geen gevaar.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1975\" data-end=\"2046\">\n<p data-start=\"1978\" data-end=\"2046\">Ga daarna gewoon verder met je dag zonder evalueren of analyseren.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2048\" data-end=\"2217\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Doe dit vandaag nog twee keer. Het maakt niet uit waar of wanneer. Door dit dagelijks drie keer per dag te herhalen, leert je zenuwstelsel dat spanning mag bestaan zonder dat er gevaar is. Maar wanneer je lichaam al in alarmstand staat, kan het daar niet meer naar luisteren.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2431\" data-end=\"2582\" style=\"text-align: left;\">De oefening werkt omdat we het lichaam leren dat spanning veilig is. Iedere keer dat je spanning voelt en er niets mee hoeft te doen, leert je systeem: <em><strong data-start=\"2584\" data-end=\"2616\">\u201cDit is ok\u00e9.
